95 Boys Advance to Finals of State Cup
May 7, 2011

FC Premier 95 fought a tough battle with Solar 95 to advance to finals of State Cup today. Solar had the wind on the first half. A few opportunitties to score were available to both teams on both halves, but neither team could capitalize. A PK was awarded to Solar, but the quick action of GK Oscar Rodriguez denied the goal. Solar’s GK had an impressive save when he blocked Michael Solis’ fantastic attemp to score on the 34Th minute. On the 8Th minute of the first overtime period, another impressive save by Solar’s GK kept the scoreboard tied at 0-0, when Cameron Azeez’s almost impossible to stop header was blocked. After two 15 minute overtime periods, the scoreboard remained tied at 0-0.

After 110 minutes of play, the match went to PK shootouts. Solar’s first PK hit the crossbar, while FC Premier’s first PK by Eli Sanchez went over the goal. Solar’s second PK made it in the goal, and Jason Beckemeier equalized the effort. The third PK by Solar was denied by GK Oscar Rodriguez, while Preston McCormack for FC Premier scored his shot from the mark. Solar put the fourth one in, and Jacob Tucker maintained the advantage for FC Premier. The last PK for Solar went in, and Skyler Simmonds closed the game by scoring his PK for the win for FC Premier
